Friday Pre-Race Weighing Station & Set Up
(Starting at 6:00 and
continuing until it is done…)
Set up the tables, the track and related computer
equipment. (It would be helpful if any
of these people can assist in the post-race disassembly and storage tasks.)
Saturday
(Note: First shift goes from 7:30 until 10:00
Second shift goes from 10:00 until 1:30)
Mechanic
Help scouts apply graphite,
adjust car weight before they surrender their cars to the Registrar.
Registrar
Dana Wittman (first) & Colette/Tom Woidat (second)
Confirm weight is not over 5 ounces, check
dimensions, assign a number to the car, take possession of the car, report the
car number and scout name to the Race Captain for entry into the computer.
Race Captain
Joe Granda (first) & Dale Barrette
(second)
Record car numbers and related scout names in
computer, establish races, communicate to Starters the car number and related
lane numbers for each race, record race times in computer.
Starter
Jeff Scott, Doug Grieve (first) & Romain
Wojda, Mark Pedro (second)
Receive cars from Registrar into storage, take cars
from storage and place them in lanes according to Race Captain’s instructions,
start race on Announcer’s command, receive raced cars from runners, retain
fastest cars for championship races, forward other cars to Car Return.

Talk it up.
Runner

Remove cars from bottom end of track after each
race and return to them to the starters.

Hold cars that have finished racing and return them
to the scouts. Direct scouts to the Portrait
Photographer.

Take posed photo(s) of scouts with Akelas & cars.
Candid Photographer

Take action photos of scouts & cars.
Kitchen

Bagels & coffee for the volunteers (not for the
scouts & Akelas)

Establish non-speed awards such as “Most Innovative
Design”
Disassembly & Clean Up

Disassemble track for storage. Put tables
