The weight of your car is very important.  If it is too light, it will not go as fast as it could.  If it is too heavy, it will be disqualified.

The official scale will be available during set-up on Friday, before the Saturday races.  Prior to that, it will be at the home of Mike Michaelis.

Mike (pictured above) ran the clinic during the hayride event and has invited some of the racers he counseled to his home to help with car fabrication.  Below is the email he sent.  If you too would appreciate his help, give him a call.

Thanks for attending last nights clinic.  As promised, by registering with me, you can have access to the tools and tips from the clinic to help in finishing your car.

All you have to do is give me a call if you need to stop by during the following times:

Most Friday Nights- 7-8 p.m.

Most Sundays- 1-2 p.m.

As a quick overview, I will have:

Drill Press- Used to drill out axles and hollow out areas for weights

Band Saw- Used to cut out the car

Axle and Wheel Polishing Tools

Sanding Equipment for Rough Shaping

I would suggest you stop by the Ace Hardware in Libertyville at Buckley Road (Route 137) and Milwaukee Avenue (Route 21) to buy your weights, (I will not be working with any lead), paint, and other supplies as they have a very wide selection and a special turnstile devoted to Pinewood Derby Cars.
